God send us?

So there we were in Sweden! Hard to believe for us that we were actually going to be ministering overseas. We had two large boxes of books and of course too much luggage and we were out standing in the snow waiting for a bus. The boxes were falling apart and it was very cold and did not seem too glamorous. We got to the hotel and boy did jet lag kick in. We were out for hours! It was very different going to the restaurant at the hotel. Alot of cold cuts and cheese. Joe can live on cheese alone. Anyway now we just had to connect with Dave and Maxie Broom to go over all that needed to be done at the training.

So as we said it was time to prepare for our trip to Sweden and Denmark. Joe was doing a bit better when it came to knowing that his first flight in a airliner was a over seas trip. Now we were committed and doing all that needs to be done, passports material from the ministry to take, getting the right time off from the police department etc... This trip was planned by Dave and Maxie Broom who at the time did alot of International Travel for the ministry then called Marriage Ministries International. They are from Zimbabwe and we knew them pretty well from conventions in Denver. Finally it came time to get on the first plane from Denver to Newark, NY. We got the airport with boxes of books and of course too much luggage and waited to board the plane. Joe was still scarred, knees wobbling kinda of sweating wondering what would happened if we just changed our mind. It would have been bad, real bad. There were training set up in Sweden and Denmark that Dave and Maxie would have to do by themselves and could have handled no problem, but with out the training manuals! We had those with us! As we got on the airplane Joe thought this is alot smaller than he thought and started to feel claustrophobic! We got to our seat and Joe was in between Stephanie and a stranger and did not like being so cramped. As we sat on the runway Joe took out his bible and started to read Joshua! Encouraging himself in the Lord, or trying to. The man next to him started to talk to Joe. "So is this your first flight? I can tell by what you are reading". What God put a Christian next to us? The man started to explain how everything was going to feel and how normal this sound was and how that felt and by the end of that trip Joe was ready to get on the next plane over the ocean. Jeremiah 29:11 came alive "For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans of welfare and peace, and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome" Amplified Version; for the hard of hearing!

God Send Us?

So as we said in our last blog we were at a standstill at this point . Stephanie new that God was speaking to us and Joe was fighting it tooth and nail. The Fear of flying and the lack of trust to raise funds just were too much. Of course we submitted to pray and we new the other would heard from God and it would be settled. Well Joe decided that this fear had to go and started to ask for prayer. We remember going to a service where Dave Duell was preaching. Now Dave had prayed for us many times before and we had seen miracles. One of which is our youngest son, Jesse. The devil said we could not have him but God said different another story for another time. Anyway, Joe went up for prayer totally expecting to be delivered of a chicken spirit. Joe got delivered alright but not of a chicken spirit but of a spirit of control!  Wow "what a deal" as Dave would say. So now we were both in agreement that if God supplied the money to go in time we would go. Joe was still dealing with the fear of flying. The spirit may have been gone but we really didn't have any confirmation yet. Joe was pretty convince the money would not come in. One day a business man at church told Joe to stop by his office that he wanted to help us a little with the mission. Well time was pretty much up and we needed more than a little to go. Joe prayed "ok God if you really are telling us to do this it has to be you". As Joe went up to the mans office his secretary handed Joe a envelope. The long ride down in the elevator was a interesting one. Joe opened the envelope and found a check for $2000!!! Oh No we have to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God had spoken! Stephanie's faith and trust won out. Sometimes as a couple one of us has to take the reigns and seek the Lord for Gods best! Well now to prepare for the trip to Denmark and Sweden.

God send us?

It has been a while since we last blogged. So we want to get back in the blogging saddle , so to speak. We want to tell a story about our journey as we have tried to serve the Lord! We hope that you will enjoy some of these stories of how we came to taking the step into going to the Nations and what it has meant to us on our family. Way back in 1985 when the Lord healed our marriage and as we started to receive and walk in His healing we started ministering to marriages, we were very content to do it here in the US in the comfort of our home. When we started dating back in 1975 Stephanie had a call on her life to be a Medical Missionary and gave it all up to get married. As you may have known we were not equally yoked and Joe was not a Christian even when we did get married. So Stephanie has always had the missionary call on her life. Joe was a Denver Police Detective and worked in the Homicide Unit from 1986 til 1987 so he had all the adventure he needed. We ministered to marriages in Nova Shalom which became Marriage Ministered International in 1993. Oh by the way Joe in all he had been through in the police department had a fear issue when it cam to flying so of course God was content in us being content. In 1991 Joe found a letter in the mail box from Todd and Candi Halberg who were the National Directors for MMI at the time. Joe opened the letter and started to sweat and shake. The letter was asking us to consider being on the International training team and there was a Training Weekend coming up in Denmark and Sweden if we were interested.  NO WAY! Joe had never been on a commercial airliner and wasn't about to make his first time to Scandinavia! He actually flew a small plane in High School in a Aeronautics class but that was when he had no brains or fear and now NO WAY! After all you don't know if those pilots are any good. Forget trusting them and of course God would understand Joe not trusting Him. Yep Joe was willing to face 5 guys with guns before he would get on a plane. So as Joe brought the letter in the house the only way he knew he would not have to worry is to not tell Stephanie about the letter. WHAT! Boy was that not what we taught! So after Joe finally showed Stephanie the letter and saw her face light up like a light bulb and get all excited he began to tremble and give every excuse in the book why it couldn't be done. "We have to raise our own money! How can we do that?" " How can I get time off work to do that?" "We just can't do that , who will watch our kids?" Well Joe went on and on and on!!! What was it that was holding him back? Could we at least pray about this? "NO!" we aren't doing it. Now the journey begins.....

Thirst and Hunger after Jesus!

Nehemiah 9:15

You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, And brought them water out of the rock for their thirst, And told them to go in to possess the land Which You had sworn to give them.

The Lord told the Israelite's to posses the land and He brought them provision. After He quenched their thirst He told them to go and posses their land. We spoke of being hungry after God in our last blog and we want to continue with this theme just as we want to stay hungry after God. Not only should we seek (thirst) after righteousness but all things that the Lord is! We are learning that as we step out with every step we take God is there to meet us. The only way we can know the character of Jesus is to know Him intimately and the only way we can know Jesus intimately is to seek and thirst after Him! We need to find the way to search after His heart in a way that we will understand no religion involved just relationship. What land has the Lord told you to posses?

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Our desire is to see believers to get hungry. We all want healing , salvation of our loved ones and our dreams and visions fulfilled. For this to happen we need to be hungry. Maybe you saw Rocky III. That was the Rocky Movie where Rocky Balboa had to go back to the old way he trained to get his passion back to fight Clubber Lane who was a bad dude. That movie always gets us going to search down deep for our passion and fire! The devil is alot worse then Clubber and he wants to destroy us. If we want our families healed and whole than we have to declare war on the devil get our fire back and take back what is ours. Really it's not about wanting something it is about wanting Jesus!!! Seeking after Him with our whole heart and every fiber of our beings! Just imagine as David said in the above Psalm. His soul and his flesh long for water where there is none! That's how we need to long after the Lord and His in-filling! Because he will fill us and quench our thirst!
